Why add a battery
Use more of your own power, day and night
A home battery stores energy when it's cheap or free and releases it when it's expensive, so you draw less from the grid at peak prices. It all qualifies for 0% VAT until March 2027.
Without a battery, the solar you generate by day is often exported for little when you're out. A battery banks it so you run your home on your own power into the evening.
On a time-of-use tariff you can charge the battery overnight when electricity is cheapest, then run the house from it during the expensive peak hours. It works with or without solar.
By adding a whole-home gateway, your battery keeps the lights, fridge and Wi-Fi running through a power cut, switching over automatically so you barely notice.
Already have solar? We add a battery to most existing systems without replacing your panels or inverter, and it qualifies for 0% VAT just the same.

Battery storage FAQs
Your battery questions, answered
No. A battery is worth having on its own. On a time-of-use tariff you charge it overnight when electricity is cheapest and run your home from it during the expensive peak hours. If you do have solar, the battery also stores what you generate by day for use in the evening.
It depends on the capacity you need and the brand you choose. Our online quote builder gives you an instant, itemised price in minutes, which we confirm as a fixed price at your free home survey. With 0% VAT until March 2027, there's no VAT to add.
When adding a whole-home backup gateway, yes. The battery switches over automatically when the grid goes down and keeps essentials like the lights, fridge and Wi-Fi running.
It comes down to how much electricity you use, when you use it, and whether you have solar. We size the battery around your bills and your goals at the survey, rather than selling you more capacity than you'll use. Brands like Hanchu and Sigenergy let you add more later. Find out more about battery sizes here.
It depends on what matters most to you. The Tesla Powerwall leads on whole-home backup, Hanchu offers modular value with a strong warranty, and Sigenergy combines battery, inverter and EV charging in one platform. We'll talk you through which fits your home, not which is easiest to sell.
Home battery storage qualifies for 0% VAT until 31 March 2027, whether it's fitted with solar or on its own, so there's no VAT to add to your quote. Each battery also comes with the manufacturer's warranty of 10 years (which can be extended for certain models), and your aftercare comes from our own local team.
